- verb. To ask someone to do or give something in a very urgent manner.
- “Beseech” is almost a dying word as it’s usage has drastically decreased in the past few decades. It was a very popular world in Middle English which comes from be- ( used as an intensifier) and Old English word sēcan (meaning to seek).
- urge, implore
- “But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner” (as in Hebrews 13:19 in the King James Version of the Bible)
- On realizing his mistake, the courtier beseeched the King’s forgiveness.
