College professor M.B. and his designer wife, Roshni, are a yuppie couple living in the ever-expanding, smog encrusted, roiling city of Delhi. They have finally achieved their dream of buying their own apartment—in an an up and coming builder complex in Gurgaon. The problem is, it looks like it’s going to be up and coming for a while. “The Glass House” is an extraordinary representation of an extremely ordinary story. Like most people, M.B. and Roshni harness the dream of having their own home.. where all of their fantasies can flourish. They are closer to the dream than ever before with flat booked in a premium construction. How this little dream plays a major role in their lives, relationships and more is worth reading. How our dreams are really made of glass and that relationships are tested when life and conditions are at their absolute worst. I found the end quite hard-hitting and this definitely will be a book I remember for long.
The flow and the writing were so good that I totally fell in love with the writing style right away! I never knew seeing the world through the eyes of an educated middle-aged man lost in turmoil between hope and despair in the regularities of life could be so riveting! This the writing style I have been craving for, for a while now. Yes, it is good to read light fluffy books that can be read in a sitting with easy language but I think these are the ones I truly enjoy the most, the kind I can take time with, ruminate at the marvel of the mundane.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read on a laid-back day. The days when you have no hurry.. a cozy day with nothing else on your mind.
